GENERATION III
Started in 2009, SADC (pronounced Sad-sea) formed with a whopping 12 charter members. Members are located inside and outside of Missouri, though the headquarters is located in St. Louis regions, though expanding gradually into the North and East Coast of the United States. Members come from all sorts of backgrounds and have different cosplay experience levels ranging from beginner to advanced, and all of us strive to become ideal role-models for others, who can look up to us and expect only good things. We want to set a good example for all cosplayers, and help reassure those hesitant parents that cosplay AND crossplay is harmless. ^.^
SADC's purpose is to maintain a fun and creative atmosphere for cosplayers and otaku everywhere, hosting events at conventions and also doing independent events and projects. SADC's first official event was held at Kawakon 2010, a ball based on Hino Matsuri's Vampire Knight, and had a full cast in LARP mode.
Our convention touring will mostly be in the surrounding states of Missouri, at least until we all begin doing more fund raising to travel farther into other states such as Georgia, Florida, New York, and California. Conventions such as Middle Tennessee Anime Convention, Anime St. Louis, Kawa Kon, Bishiecon, Natsucon, Anime Iowa, OMG con, and Anime Central will be on top priority lists. Though the members will go on their own to other cons, even without the group! ^.^
Together, the group will create a number of fanvids, fanfics, photoshoots, private and public events, and live action (cosplay) manga based on anime and game characters as well as original, self created characters.
Members are not required to focus on any one cosplay, but may cosplay what they like, who they like, when they like. Normally, if we have a group idea in mind, then we may see who all is interested in it, and then put the group together. For example, the Vampire Knight group we have done. Not all of us did Vampire Knight. The others have other cosplays they would like to focus on instead. But events are done together, as a team, regardless of cosplay. No one is left out for any reason!
SADC is always accepting applications and reviews all applications, and accepts members seasonally, so if you are interested, please feel free to check out our blog with more information about becoming a member! It does not matter what state or country you are from! We accept anyone regardless of location! We are also associated with the cosplay groups BrokenWingsPro from California and Striped Panda Cosplay!
